14 Day Princess Cruise Around the Caribbean
Dec 2025. This was our second Princess cruise but our first on the Coral Princess. We found the prices were quite good considering their drinks packages include the room gratuities and wifi as well as 2 casual dining experiences and fun ice cream desserts. Anyhow, this trip caught my eye because it was 14 days long and it cost less than $223.76 per person per day, even when adding in the Princess Plus package! We had not yet been to any of the islands listed on this cruise, so we were looking forward to seeing something different. This was the least expensive price per day, so far, with any of our cruises. It was fun that Princess gives us onboard credit for being ex-military.
Sea Days
We had a couple of sea days before reaching our first port of call, so we joined in on a Quiz show and we won! Not money, just a couple of Princess logo note books. Fun to see our names on the screen anyhow.
And of course, a few cocktails were in order.
Sint Maarten
Our first port was at Philipsburg in Sint Maartin. We didn't get an excursion and just walked around the town. This is the historic courthouse located on Front Street in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten
These were the statues along the boardwalk.
It's fun to see our cruise ship in the background when we're walking about. At least we know we won't get lost.
Just like a lot of the Caribbean Islands, many of the buildings were abandonned and in disrepair.
Roseau, Dominica
We ended up hopping into a taxi for $20 USD each that took us up the mountains to see the hot springs and scenery. It was very nice, but a bit scary because the roads are so steep and narrow. We're glad we went, but it was definitely a one-off excursion.
We walked through the town for a bit, then we took the taxi excursion. The traffic on the main streets was pretty congested and the shops were identical to the many shops you see in any Caribbean port. Overpriced stuff made in China.
We really enjoyed the specialty dining at the Crown Grill restaurant. We won the meal by having our room number drawn when we were in the piazza during the presentations. Very lucky as these were $55 USD each normally plus 20 percent gratuities. We got special wine with our meal and it was all included in the free dinner we won!
I ordered filet mignon and lobster and they didn't charge me any extra, it was all included in the free dinner! It was very, very good!
Bruce had a steak that was huge! He said it was good too!
Pecan pie for desert! Wow! I can't believe we could stuff it all in. But we did! And, it was delicious!
St. George's, Grenada
We got off the ship for a walk about in St. George's, but it was crazy with vendors and traffic that we didn't last very long. We were barely off the ship for a couple of hours before we reboarded again.
We walked around the ship every day, sometimes twice a day. One this day, I noticed we had a hitch hiker on board. Probably the biggest moth I have ever seen.
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
We didn't get off the boat in Trinidad and Tobago. It was probably too dangerous and the Americans were fighting the Venezuelians, so we just stayed on the ship.
The cruise ship docked at the commercial port and it is known to be a pretty sketchy neighbourhood.
Willemstad, Curaçao
We actually enjoyed walking around Curaçao. We spend a good 4 hours walking around. The swinging bridge was pretty cool.
I love Frida Kahlo!
There are so many places that have the colourful umbrellas, but I was surprised to see one here in Curaçao.
Fort Amsterdam in Willemstad, Curaçao
Oranjestad, Aruba
Aruba was very pretty, although, once again, the traffic was a nightmare. We walked about on our own and didn't feel we missed out by not taking an excursion.
Queen Wilhelmina Statue, a monument located in Wilhelmina Park in Oranjestad, Aruba.
We caught the really scenic views from our balcony on our way out of Aruba.
With a sea day to go, our trip was over. We had a really nice relaxing trip and were happy to take it. It definitely confirmed that we are cruise lovers and that we can find sufficient activities to entertain ourselves on long cruises. We also really like exploring areas on our own, so that makes is nice too.
We had so much on board credit left over that we ended up buy a lot of alcohol with it. This was the first time we encountered peanut butter whiskey. We ended up really liking it. Oh, and I also won that bottle of wine when we participated in the wine tasting session. It was a pretty lucky trip for us.
Conclusion:
We decided that no matter where you go in the Caribbean, all the ports are very similar and all the excursions offered are very similar too. Since my husband isn't into snorkeling any more, we don't do these types of excursions nor do we enjoy laying about on the beach. So walking around town is good for us and taking in museums when they are open is fun too. We actually are all about the ship, the shows, the food and beverages. Any Caribbean cruise is fun, when you don't really care where you go.
